Nepalese women are making unprecedented progress in all sectors of work, including entrepreneurship. With every new business we start and lead, we are defying stereotypical social expectations and leaving behind the traditional gender expectations that still prevail.
Women are as innovative and driven as men, and even though they make up half the population, how is it that the 1:1 ratio of men to women in the real world doesn’t translate into an equal participation in the business world, or any other sector of that matter? While everything seems calm on the outside, what goes on behind the scenes in the life of a woman entrepreneur? How difficult is it balancing family and work, and how dispirited it must feel to not have a role model to look up to? These are all questions we will ponder about on the 26th of March, 2018 with Ms. Rachana Thapa, a trailblazing woman entrepreneur of Nepal.
Ms. Rachana cofounded Silver Mountain School of Hotel Management back in 2002, when hotel management education in Nepal was not seen in the best light. As a cofounder, she was able to build a premium hospitality management college from the from the ground up, to provide the next generation of enthusiasts a place where they can expect to receive a world-class education and an international degree. She is also a Director at Ace International Business School, a reputed business school that has been continually striving to raise the standard of management education in Nepal.
